The lab\u2019s research focuses on the microcircuits underlying learning, memory, and coordinated network dynamics.<\/p>\n<p>This PhD project aims to uncover how parvalbumin-positive (PV+) interneuron subtypes (basket cells and axoaxonic cells) control hippocampal network activity. You will apply advanced in vitro and in vivo approaches to dissect how these microcircuits support memory operations at the cellular and ensemble level.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"vc_col-sm-8 wpb_column vc_column_container\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><div class=\"wpb_text_column us_custom_49be57a1\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">You will<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Perform in vitro whole-cell recordings of interneuron subtypes in CA3 and\/or conduct in vivo two-photon calcium<br \/>\nimaging during virtual reality\u2013based behavioral tasks. You will use optogenetics to manipulate identified PV+ INs<br \/>\nand test their causal role in memory processing. You will analyze large, multi-modal datasets and also contribute<br \/>\nto the teaching of medical students.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Qualifications<\/span><\/p>\n<p>You should have an M.Sc. (or equivalent) in Neuroscience, Biology, Biomedical Sciences or a related field, with a<br \/>\nstrong interest in systems and circuit neuroscience, learning, memory, and neuronal computation. You should be<br \/>\nhighly motivated, with strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively, You should also be able to<br \/>\nwork with mice, including behavioral training, surgical procedures, and have programming experience (Python<br \/>\nand\/or MATLAB). Prior experience in immunohistochemistry, electrophysiology, 2-photon imaging or rodent<br \/>\nbehavioral experiments is highly beneficial.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">We offer<\/span><\/p>\n<p>A stimulating and collaborative research environment, access to cutting-edge scientific equipment including 2-<br \/>\nphoton imaging and Virtual Reality setups, optogenetics, and stereotactic surgery stations, and integration into a<br \/>\ninterdisciplinary community of scientists.
